Collection: Recipe - Vegetarian / Vegan Swedish Meatball

Makes 2-3 servings


  • Meatballs
  • 15 ml (1 tsp.) vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pack of Ȧrta Bȯna Plant Based Ground
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Sauce
  • 15 g (1 tsp.) of butter or olive oil
  • 15 g (1 tsp.) all-purpose flour
  • 125 ml (½ cup) vegetable broth
  • 5 g (1 tsp.) Dijon mustard
  • 6 g (1 tsp.) brown sugar
  • 3 g (½ tsp.) Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) 15% cream or soy cream.
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Shape into meatballs with the Ȧrta Bȯna Plant Based Ground.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the onion in oil while 3 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Add the meatballs in the skillet and grill them 6 minutes while stirring them every 2 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt the butter (oil) and add the flour. Mix everything to obtain a paste. Pour the vegetable broth, whisk continuously until obtaining a smooth texture.
  5. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix.
  6. Add the cooked onions as well as plant based meatballs in the sauce and let simmer everything for 10 minutes at low heat.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with mashed potatoes or boiled potatoes.
